Adversity on the Streets of Los Angeles: A Teen's Perspective on the Plight of Homelessness
Overview:
Under the Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL), I created an informational video to spread awareness on the rising homeless population in Los Angeles. Creating a video using clips I filmed, animation, and three interviews, I created a multimedia video on the homelessness. Covering the effects of the pandemic, how people of color are disproportionately homeless, and other homeless topics, I provided a comprehensive view of the homeless crisis. As a culmination of the project, I presented my video in a LAPL Zoom conference.
Impact:
Through this informational video, I provide a racial, social, and personal lens to the subject of homelessness. Not only do I provide information of the current homeless crisis in Los Angeles, I provide ways for youth to aid the problem of homelessness. Furthermore, in the Zoom conference where I shared my video, I was able to answer questions about the homeless crisis. Furthermore, I was able to artistically explain and represent the crisis, creating a call to action for L.A. citizens alike to address the problem of homelessness.
