Escape the Virus: A COVID-19 Board Game

Overview:
Over two quarters in PEDS 220, a Stanford Community Engaged class, I created an educational board game about COVID-19 to better educate children on hygiene to avoid infections. In this fun and interactive game, children have an engaging way of maintaining good hygiene, due to positive reinforcement that the game provides in good, hygienic behavior. In designing the game board, game cards, and manual, I offer a vivid way to engage children in elementary schools in realizing the importance of hygiene.
Impact:
Through this board game, I am educating children of the importance of hygiene, as well as how to properly practice good hygiene. A before and after survey monitors how much children care about hygiene, how much they know about hygiene, how important it is to them, and other quantities. So far, children care about hygiene 14% more after playing the game, and know more specific courses of action in order to avoid getting infections or viruses. I hope to make this game accessible to any children to increase their care of hygiene.
