Justice for Muwekma Ohlone

Overview:

Working with the Muwekma Ohlone tribe of the Bay Area, my goal was to help them gain visibility in their fight to receive federal recognition. Working in direct collaboration with tribe members, I created a mural with the concept of scales of justice, with Muwekma and its supporters on one side, and opposition to their recognition on the other.

Impact:

In creating art as a form of protest, this mural is accessible and creates room for dialogue for Muwekma's federal recognition; the QR code leads to their website. This mural was printed on flyers and distributed across the Stanford University campus. The mural is to be printed on a banner and hung at Stanford's Marketplace. The stickers are also being distributed campus-wide.
